Non-residents are allowed open a bank account in Mauritius, usually a savings account, which allows for regular transactions, transfers, and withdrawals.

Foreign residents can open a current account either in Mauritian rupees or foreign currency. A foreign currency account can only receive funds via domestic and international bank transfers.
